Over the past ten years we have used several types of storage for back ups of daily data in our busy insurance brokerage, Hardy-Colborne Insurance Brokers.
Tapes, CD's, flash drives, they all used up costly time. We had to stop work in our management system, before 5 p.m. or have an employee stay overtime, until the back up completed.
In our type of business, if we were denied access to our regular office, we could function remotely by accessing the management system and installing the most recent transactions from the backup. Ultimately we always said that our worst case scenario would be to lose only one day worth of data.
In late December 2010, our IT consultant brought to our attention that we were backing up a lot of unnecessary files, costing us valuable time and ultimately money.
He suggested we use an off-site backup service. We signed up in January 2011 for the 30 day trial with Data Harbor Chad came to our office and explained the off-site backup process to us, thoroughly and knowledgeably. After downloading the software, in about half an hour we were able to leave, knowing that the work we had done that day would be stored at a remote location, ready for us to access if we needed. Chad made the change over process extremely easy.
Only a few weeks after we signed up for Data Harbor's services, we called upon Chad for help. We came into work on a Monday morning, to discover we were locked out of our management system. We contacted technical support for our management system. We were told to try to fix it ourselves and if we still couldn't get in, call them back.
We placed a call to Chad to see if there was anything he could do for us. He went above and beyond! Holding our hand every step of the way until our management system was up and running! The problem we encountered was one that could be fixed without a complete restore of the back up information, but we knew it was there if needed.
The weight of cost and man power needed to restore lost data has been released from our office with our signing up with Data Harbor.
The off-site backup has been a great asset to our office tools!
